Members needed to take students out on the water, either in a club Catalina 22, club FJ, or on your own vessel. This will require a minimum eight hour commitment from you (which will count for club “work hours”). You will need to attend the orientation (where you will be matched with your students) and then spend six hours on the water with those new sailors. You do not have to attend any weekly classroom sessions, but you are welcome to attend and assist. You will also need to be at the one hour graduation reception where we will hopefully convert your students into new members.
The “Learn to Sail” program is flexible regarding your actual time on the water. Students normally request either three 2-hour sails, or two 3-hour sails. Weekdays, weeknights, or weekends --- the schedule is up to you and your students. Once you have been matched with your students, you will be their main contact point and the ambassador for JRSC.
